Ingredients
Scale
- 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder (ceremonial or culinary grade)
- 2 tablespoons hot water (not boiling, about 175°F/80°C)
- 1–2 teaspoons honey, maple syrup, or sweetener of choice (optional, to taste)
- ¾ cup milk of choice (dairy, almond, oat, soy, etc.)
- ½ cup ice cubes
Instructions
- In a small bowl, sift the matcha powder to avoid clumps.
- Add hot water to the matcha and whisk vigorously using a bamboo whisk or milk frother until fully dissolved and frothy.
- Stir in the sweetener, if using, and mix until dissolved.
- Fill a glass with ice cubes.
- Pour the milk over the ice.
- Slowly pour the matcha mixture on top to create a layered effect, or stir to combine.
- Serve immediately with a straw and enjoy!
Notes
- For a frothier drink, shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker instead of layering.
- Use vanilla or coconut milk for a flavor twist.
- Want it stronger? Add an extra ½ teaspoon of matcha for a bolder taste.
- Great as a pre-workout drink or afternoon pick-me-up thanks to matcha’s natural caffeine.
- Prep Time: 5min
